The garden was designed, if that is the right word, and planting commenced in October 2021 by Alan Gloak and team.
To start, the area was a plain garden with very few if any real flower beds. It consisted of an outside swimming pool surrounded by high wooden fencing, a falling down greenhouse, a kitchen garden, some shrubs, some fruit trees, a large leylandii hedge and a large area of meadow grass.
In what was a virtually barren site, a proper garden is now beginning to appear. The beds and pergola are new, as are the shrubs, fruit trees, and the herbaceous borders. New plants are being added all the time as and where they can be fitted in.
As there was no height in the garden or surrounding area, height had to be introduced using trellis. It will be seen over time if this works. It is becoming, an eccentric eclectic garden with a mixture of some unusual shrubs and perennials and colours. Time will see what does and does not grow, that is the thinking here!
Pool and fountain, hot house, raised kitchen beds and the grass has been tamed to a lawn. There is some formality in this garden, but alas a mercurial minded owner. The garden is fully accessible to disabled and people with limited movement.
