How the year has flown passed -  in five days’ time we will celebrate the feast of Michaelmas and traditionally feast on Goose and Mince pies.

This year its going to be Duck and then Apple Pie.

In the garden the Michaelmas Daisies are in full bloom. Whilst they all have a common look, their colour changes and that is why I like them so much. One in particular we call Tweed Lane because it came from my favourite Aunt who lived in Teed Lane, Brockham and it reminds me of her and holidays when all we had to do was roam fields and woods, ah carefree days now long gone.

In the kitchen garden G has started to put beds to sleep for the winter with a covering of Mypex to deter weed growth.

Breakfasts are much enlivened these days with fresh picked Raspberries and lunches enriched with homemade ratatouille.

Who said Autumn was the end of summer - now comes the gift of summer - Autumn fruits. I plan a new Orchard at the Firs by adding Plum, Pear and two more apple trees, not large but big enough.
